Vakeel is operated by Lexcore Enterprises Private Limited (CIN U70109BR2022PTC059548), a company registered in Bihar, India ("we", "us", "the Company"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal data when you use Vakeel.
We collect: (a) account data — your name and email address from Google Sign-In, or the email and password you register with (passwords are stored only as a one-way hash); (b) Ask queries you send and the answers generated, which may include sensitive information about your clients' legal matters; (c) content you choose to report through the in-app Report button; (d) billing records if you subscribe — subscription status, plan, payment and subscription IDs and credit balance (card/UPI/bank details are collected and processed by Razorpay, not by us); (e) basic technical data (app version, request time) needed to run and secure the service.
Stored ONLY on your phone and never uploaded to us: your enrolment number, chamber and jurisdiction, matters, hearing and limitation dates, notes, drafts and document-vault files. Uninstalling the app or using "Delete data on this phone" erases them; we cannot recover them.
We do NOT collect precise location, contacts, call logs, photos from your gallery, or biometric data.
Information about a client that you type into Ask is your professional responsibility under your duty of confidentiality to that client (including Section 126 of the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam / former Indian Evidence Act and the Bar Council of India Rules). Avoid entering client names or identifying details in Ask unless you are permitted to. We treat Ask data as confidential and do not sell it.
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act"), you are a Data Principal and we are a Data Fiduciary. We process your data only for the purposes disclosed here, with consent given at signup, and you may withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account.
Your Ask queries (and the last few questions and answers of the same conversation, so follow-up questions make sense) are sent to third-party AI model providers (Google Gemini and/or Anthropic Claude, called directly by our backend) solely to produce a research answer. When you turn on "Live web", Google Gemini also runs Google Search queries based on your question. These providers process your text under their own data-processing terms; we do not control their retention policies. We do not sell your data to any third party for advertising.
The AI providers above are based outside India (the United States), and your text is processed on their servers, which may be located outside India, only for the specific request you make. By using Vakeel's Ask/draft features, you consent to this cross-border transfer, consistent with the DPDP Act 2023.
We retain account data and Ask history for as long as your account is active. Upon a deletion request we permanently delete them within 30 days, except billing and transaction records, which we must keep for the period required by Indian tax and accounting law (up to 8 years under the Companies Act 2013 / GST law). Data stored only on your phone is not held by us at all.
You have the right to access, correct, and delete your personal data, to withdraw consent, and to nominate another person to exercise these rights (DPDP Act 2023). To delete your account use Settings → Delete account in the app, visit cortinainfinity.com/delete-account.php, or email cortinainfinity@gmail.com.
We use industry-standard encryption (TLS in transit) and access controls. No system is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security but take reasonable measures consistent with Indian law (IT Act 2000, Section 43A).
Vakeel is meant for adults (18+) — advocates and law students. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18; if you believe a minor has created an account, email us and we will delete it.
We may update this policy. Material changes are shown in the app and you will be asked to accept them again before continuing.
